Sea to Sky Sailing has built a reputation as a provider of premier training across the coastal cruising, offshore and racing… but our heart has always been firmly in the racing world. It’s a world where it’s far too easy to get caught up in the race to have the newest sails, the fastest boats, the most optimized rating, and alllll the carbon. Yes, this is a big part of what wins races. But underneath all that carbon and cash, still needs to be a rock hard core of skill and experience.

That is what we’re here to develop. It’s Not About The Boat. It’s about YOU, and your ability to produce the fastest boat speed, the best tactical decisions, and the most consistent performance time after time.

In launching It’s Not About The Boat across multiple venues using various fleets, we’re going back to our roots as dinghy sailors and appreciators of doing ambitions things with little boats (circa 2018 Race to Alaska!). Join us for one of our weeks of high level coaching and one-design racing to build your skills into a solid slab of excellence on which to build your next season.

It’s Not About The Boat: J24s in Barbados

November 10-14, 2025

This inaugural session kicks off winter, by ripping around Carlisle Bay, Barbados, in a fun little fleet of J24s. Ideal for aspiring to intermediate level racers, this week will raise your game across the board.

The J24 is a classic of one-design keelboat racing and arguably the most popular boat worldwide in that category. Every racing dock has seen its share of J24s over the years, and most serious racers have a J24 somewhere on their CV. Nimble, reliable and iconic, the J24 provides an excellent platform for developing all the foundational skills that can easily be transferred to just about any other boat.

It’s Not About The Boat: Diam 24s in St.Maarten

December 3-7, 2025

Ok, maybe this one is a little bit about the boat! We have an incredible opportunity to train on some awesome high performance French designed trimarans, and the option to continue on to charter for an event that is perhaps one of the best kept secrets of the Caribbean: La Course de l'’Alliance.

The Diam24s are all the rage in France, one of the top incubators of high performance innovation and multihulls- yet stable and simple enough for the rest of us. In 2015 the design was selected as the boat of choice for the famous Tour de France à la Voile, and has since launched its own World Tour racing circuit which includes an entire season in the Caribbean. St.Maarten is the home of the Caribbean Diam24 fleet, offering a spectacular training arena for these zippy little boats.

This camp is appropriate for intermediate to experienced sailors with a good level of agility and endurance. Prior dinghy or multihull and racing experience is a benefit but not a requirement!

Note: Diam24 in St.Maarten camp is delivered by a local partner who provides the bulk of the coaching and all event management. Sea to Sky Sailing will be on the scene to support with some coaching, but primarily is here to connect sailors with this unique opportunity to build high performance skills on some wicked-fast trimarans!
