The Yachtmaster Online Theory course is the third level of online RYA training available, covering the syllabus for Yachtmaster Coastal and Yachtmaster Offshore theory in a single course. This is advanced training for more experienced sailors, building on the Day Skipper practical and theory courses and equipping you to navigate safely on longer coastal and offshore passages by day and night. It will take your theory knowledge to the standard required for the Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Coastal/Offshore practical exams, concentrating on advanced navigation and meteorology skills.

This theory course is mandatory for students taking our practical Coastal Skipper course or Yachtmaster Prep and intending to sit the Yachtmaster practical exam. It is not possible to cover the theory material in sufficient depth during the practical courses to get all students to this level, and students without a really good grasp of this Yachtmaster theory material have historically had poor result in the practical courses.
