From our temporary base in the village of St.Peter’s, we’re perfectly positioned to explore the UNESCO biosphere of the Bras d’or Lakes and the whole of Cape Breton. Not only do crew get to enjoy spectacular scenery, they will also get to hone their sailing skills with one of our expert instructors offering guidance along the way.
Navigation practice in challenging tidal waters, and plenty of passage planning each day
Tons of anchoring practice in beautiful little bays
Experiencing a variety of sailing conditions across the lakes and out into the open Atlantic (weather permitting!)
Potential for transiting the southern canal and lock-system connecting the Bras d’Or Lakes with the open ocean
Exploring ashore after each fun-filled day on the water, from secluded anchorages to bustling Nova Scotian villages
Enjoying lengedary east coast hospitality, fresh seafood ashore, and experiencing everything Canadian maritime culture has to offer
The Nova Scotian summer is beautiful, but famously changeable! Crew must come prepared for all conditions and a true adventure. Air temperatures can vary dramatically, there is likely to be some fog- although we’re doing our best to avoid it in Bras d’Or! Check our Atlantic FAQs for a sample packing list.
