Offshore Mileage Builder: Martinique to Antigua

Come get a taste of offshore sailing amongst the Leeward Islands of the Caribbean! We are sailing Panacea X from Martinique to Antigua. Covering roughly 150 miles, this is a great taster of offshore sailing at its best.

Sailors should expect to participate fully in the running of the boat and will get experience with a wide variety of skills and conditions, with none of the stress of doing it on your own.

We may put in a short rest stop along the way, anchoring for a good sleep and quick swim if conditions allow… or we may do the hop to Antigua in a single shot. So be prepared to launch straight into full offshore life when we leave Martinique.

Pre-Requisites

Sailing experience to a Competent Crew level is required, but to a Day Skipper level is recommended.

Logistical Note

Crew will join the boat near Fort de France, in Martinique and depart from the boat by dinghy in Falmouth, Antigua. Exactly arrival / departure locations TBD once moorage has been sorted out.

$750 CAD

$675 CAD Early Bird Rate until August 30

OR book as part of Booking Package E: Grenada to Martinique ($750), Tour de Martinique ($2,400) and Martinique to Antigua ($750) for just $2,975 CAD.

Maximum 4 crew + skipper + first mate
Includes professional skipper, first mate, all food & non-alcoholic drinks on board, fuel, moorage, yacht insurance and all other operating costs of the yacht. Participants are responsible for: food on shore and other discretionary spending, mandatory travel insurance, flights & on shore accommodation before/after. Note that those who raced in the Tour de Martinique are welcome to stay aboard between the end of Tour and the start of this trip.

About life on board

This week is an offshore delivery, with the ultimate goal to get Panacea X safely to Antigua. One thing this offshore mileage builder is not, is a luxury passenger vacation. Your skipper cannot do all things every day, so it’s important to come ready to pitch in and help with all the day- to-day tasks necessary to keep the boat neat and tidy and everyone fed and happy. Everyone should be prepared to take a turn preparing a meal, taking care of dishes, tidying up the cabin and we’ll work together to keep the boat ship shape throughout the cruise.

#ChathamBay on little Union Island was our first stop in the Grenadines this season, 4 months after Beryl stomped all over this gorgeous corner of the world. The bay is still here and still beautiful, but man what a difference a cat 4/5 hurricane makes 😢 The vegetation has clearly been brutalized, every proper sized tree is stripped and dead, the few palm trees left standing like toothpicks on the beach- and most of those are actually replanted rather than survivors. I’ve never been in here with fewer than maybe 40 other boats… this time it was us, 2 catamarans and one pirate-y vibes ketch. The beach bars are gone without a trace. The ‘resort’ is the only business left, hard at work on reconstruction of their 4 cottages and little beach restaurant. All their buildings were destroyed except for one room of the staff housing where the manager-couple is now based as they try to get things back up and running. As a side business in these tricky times, they offered customs clearance which we gratefully used!
