Grenada Sailing Week offers a great mix of middle distance racing and tight round the cans maneuvers, which really helps to put our crew through their paces, building skills and challenging our teamwork. The Round Carriacou Race is absolutely stunning, and the shifty breeze and tight courses off Grande Anse near Port Louis is some of the most fun racing in the Caribbean!
As with all Sea to Sky racing, we will be as competitive as we can be together as a team, but safety will of course always come first by a long shot, followed by providing a positive learning environment where everyone can develop their skills and enjoy the experience. Expect to be pushed to achieve your best, to expand your skill set and truly challenge yourself, with ongoing support from our skipper and first mate.
Typical Conditions
Classic tradewind sailing conditions are on display at all three of the venues this event takes us to. Racing around Carriacou and the ‘delivery race’ from Carriacou to Le Phare Bleu both have us on the windward side of islands, experiencing the excitement of open ocean conditions for short periods of time. The leeward side of the islands, particularly off Grande Anse where we spend the last day of racing, provides flat water and highly technical sailing conditions. Don’t forget the glorious sunshine!
Location & Logistics
The event begins in Carriacou, the island north of Grenada. There is a small airstrip for charter flights, but the easiest way to get there is a ferry ride from St.George’s in Grenada. We are based out of Tyrell Bay Marina for the training days through until the morning of Tuesday, February 2 when we race to Le Phare Bleu.
Le Phare Bleu is on the south coast of Grenada. We will arrive there in the afternoon of February 2 and leave from there the morning of February 4 to race to Port Louis.
We will be based out of Port Louis Marina for the remainder of the event.
We do not offer accommodation on board, however there are various accommodation options readily available (i.e. searchable on Google & AirBnB) near each of the 3 venues where the boat will be based.
