How is it Monday again already?! For this #familyday long weekend, we wanted to have a special #motivationmonday #movingon post... Meet Norma.
She started sailing with us in late 2016, taking our #QuickerCrew course in order to jumpstart racing her own boat, a sweet #Olson911 named Tigger. Norma trained with us aboard #Paragon for a season, doing all the racing she could with us to learn advanced sail trim, spinnaker handling, racing rules and tactics, and how to manage a crew. She then took all these skills and launched into skippering her own boat in the local #wednesdaynightracing
As anyone will tell you who has tried it, it takes a lot of courage to move from crewing to skippering in a race, especially when it’s your own boat you’re bringing into close quarters with others! Norma quickly got a handle on racing Tigger and has steadily improved over the last two years to the point where I’m pretty sure she has more victory mugs from @westvancouveryachtclub than #Paragon does! 👏 Not only has Norma pushed herself to dive into racing and to keep improving every day, she has also pushed her geographical boundaries. Last year she was one of our invaluable, amazing crew who drove all the way to Prince Rupert with our outboard engine, abandoned her truck there, and helped us sail little #PauHana home after the @racetoalaska Bonus points for having the flair to show up in full teal long underwear to match the skipper 😎👯♀️ After suffering through that marathon delivery, Norma took a much-deserved jaunt to the South Pacific to island hop there and try her hand at open ocean sailing. No big deal!
We’re so proud of everything Norma has accomplished and can’t wait to see what she does next. Fair winds and following seas in all future adventures!
